The USGS reports a 2.5 magnitude earthquake Friday night in northwest Georgia.

The quake was centered in Whitfield County. The location was east of Varnell Georgia between Prater Mill and Toonnerville, Georgia. This is about 8 miles east of Dalton and 83 miles north-northwest of Atlanta. The time of the quake was around 8:20 Friday evening.
