32 dogs 'living in their own filth' rescued from neglect

MACON, Ga. — The Atlanta Humane Society said nearly three dozen dogs had to be rescued from neglect, Wednesday evening.
The group took in 32 Maltese, Cocker Spaniel and Chihuahua-mixes from a Macon, Georgia home after Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare contacted them.
The Humane Society said the dogs are mostly adults in varying conditions and were living "in their own filth." Many were matted, with hair loss. Others had eye conditions.
Officials said the owner willingly signed the dogs over for rescue.
After the rescue, the Humane Society brought the dogs to their Mansell Campus in Alpharetta so they could be assessed by veterinarians.
