Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Ava DeWitt. Soccer has always been such an important part of my life. The funny thing is my parents did not play soccer, but at 3 years old, I kept asking them to play. After signing me up for Super Soccer Stars, then clinics and camps, youth soccer and then club. During this time I continued to dance, play basketball, lacrosse and flag football. In 4th grade I made a competitive dance team and told my mom I could not accept the invitation because I wanted to focus on soccer.
Soccer has taught me the value of teamwork, perseverance and dedication. Without soccer I would not have become the person I am today. Through all the years I have spent with this sport, it has given me so much in return. Soccer has provided me with lifelong friendships and lessons I will carry with me throughout my entire life.
Playing at the college level has been a dream and goal of mine for many years. It continues to grow in importance as I begin to near my college years. My parents still don’t know where my passion for soccer came from, but it has never left. Some aspects of my athletic persona that set me apart from others are my determination to improve myself aside from games and practices with my team, my work ethnic, and my perseverance. I will always strive to better myself, especially through any challenges thrown in my way. Knowing there is always more to learn and improve on is what makes this game so special. You can never be satisfied with what you have achieved, because there is always another level you can reach with hard work.
I drive myself to perform 110% on the field and in the classroom, I pride myself in being the best student academically that I can be. Through four soccer teams, and indoor track, I have continued to maintain exceptional grades. These will help me reach my dream of attending medical school and becoming a Pediatrician. I am very interested in pursuing this dream, so I can one day help children and give back to the medical community which has helped my family and countless others.
My willingness to work hard and stay dedicated to soccer, my coaches, teammates and academics is why I would be a great addition to any school/team. I can’t wait to find a school where I can continue to learn and succeed on the field and in the classroom.
