He defeated several MMA names, including Minoru Suzuki, Maurice Smith, Frank Shamrock, Guy Mezger, Masakatsu Funaki, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka, and Randleman. He became the UFC Heavyweight Champion and won the King of Pancrase World Champ title three times. He retired from MMA in 1999 due to several injuries but returned in 2006 and won against Ruben “Warpath” Villareal. However, he tested positive for morphine, hydrocodone, and diphenhydramine. His MMA record stands at 28 wins, four losses, and one draw. In 2015, he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Personal Life

Bas Rutten is a United States citizen who resides in Westlake Village, California with his wife, Karin. The couple has two daughters, Sabine and Bianca. He also has a daughter named Rachele from his previous marriage, who lives in Belgium.

Despite his parents stopping attendance to the church when he was 12 years old, Bas is a practicing Catholic once again. He credits his return to the faith to the support of his friends, including actor Kevin James.
