Charles Luther Manson: Child Of A Criminal & S*x Worker

Writer William Burgess

When most people hear the name Charles Luther Manson, they immediately think of the horrific murders his followers perpetrated in 1969.

However, Charles Manson is more nuanced than the murders he got associated with.

The American Charles Manson was a person with an infamous criminal reputation.

Several notable persons, like actress Sharon Tate and grocery store executive Leno LaBianca, met violent ends at the hands of the ‘Manson Family,’ a hippy group he formed.

He’s a shadowy figure with a deep, troubled history demanding additional investigation.

This article examines the mental toll of Manson’s crimes and speculates on his possible motivations.

Charles Luther Manson came into this world in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 12, 1934.

His upbringing was tumultuous, and he even served time in juvenile detention.

Manson’s illegal activity peaked in the late 1960s, and by then, he was the de facto leader of a murderous cult.

Let’s get to know in detail.

Charles Luther Manson personal life

The 1960s witnessed the arrival of Charles Luther Manson.

Although the book The Life and Times of Charles Manson claims he was born in early September 1961, his actual birthday is September 24.

His Los Angeles-born mum worked in the s*x industry.

Candy Stevens, née Leona Rae Musser, Luther’s mother, was born sometime in the 1940s, as documented by Jeff Guinn in Manson, The Life and Times of Charles Manson-Simon & Schuster (2013).

Biographers had speculated that she was living in Los Angeles, California, when she first encountered Manson, yet her birthplace and family’s whereabouts still needed to be discovered with certainty.

P*ostitution was her profession at the time.

It could be clearer whether Charles inspired her to choose this field or whether she was already working in it when he met her.

Ed Sanders, author of The Family: The Story of Charles Manson’s Dune Buggy Attack Battalion, cites similar police claims, saying that they mistook Stevens for a Caucasian woman.

Charles Luther Manson’s family

How many kids Manson had while he was alive has not been determined.

In 1981, the serial killer got queried by a journalist about his family size.

Some persons claimed to be Manson’s children until his death, but paternity testing disproved their claims.

Los Angeles-based aspiring rock singer Matthew Roberts claimed to be a Manson heir.

Another individual named Jason Freeman claimed to be Manson’s grandson, but he turned out to be Charles by DNA testing.

In addition, a Los Angeles resident named Rebecca Evans-Bonjadi has claimed to be the fugitive’s daughter, but proof of this has yet to get uncovered.

Why Charles Luther Manson’s Parents Marriage was Shameful?

Manson attempted to marry Stevens after his incarceration.

He did it to prevent her from giving evidence against him in court.

The law prohibits wives from communicating with their husbands.

Therefore, Luther’s parents tied the knot in ’59.

Nonetheless, Leona testified, and her ex-husband got resentenced to prison.

She apparently did this to become a “material witness” and have her charges reduced.

Leona gave birth to Charles Luther Manson in March 1960.

In September of 1960, she gave birth to a son with Charlie.

Leona and Manson, Luther’s biological parents, divorced in January 1964. Candy’s son is now entirely in her possession.

Charles Luther Manson Siblings

Jay White

Jay White (born Charles Manson Jr.) is the half-brother of Luther.

He got taken to Charles Manson and Rosalie Jane Willis during the latter’s first marriage.

White shot himself in the head in Burlington, Colorado, in 1993.

Jason Freeman, White’s estranged son, told CNN 2012 that he thought his father committed suicide because he was Manson’s son. But White did not leave any suicide notes.

Like his grandfather, Jason struggled as a young adult.

Juvenile halls, county jails, and eventually prisons appear to have been his home during his formative years.

However, he has been sober for a long period now.

Michael Manson

Luther’s father had a third son named Valentine Michael Manson.

He was born in Topanga Canyon to his dedicated disciple Mary Bruner.

Mary, a librarian at Berkeley, converted to the Manson Family ideology and became a cult member.

Some say that Manson chose Valentine for his baby in honor of a character from his favorite novel, Stranger In A Strange Land, by Robert Heinlein.

Valentine, like Luther and Manson Jr., did not last long when he took his father’s name.

Maria’s parents successfully petitioned for custody of Valentine in 1970.

As a result, Valentine is now known as Michael Brunner.

Michael views his father as a villain and is thankful for his upbringing from his grandparents in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Where is Charles Luther Manson?

Luther Manson was the best at hiding his identity among the Manson kids.

He legally changed his name to Jay Charles Warner after his half-brother’s death.

He was reportedly forty-seven when he passed away in 2007.

Those who knew Warner best described him as a tall, blond man with blue eyes.

Is it True That Charles Manson Never Married?

Little got known about Charles’s second son because of his secretive lifestyle.

Many insist Jay is alive, while others think he has settled down quite a bit.

In April 2017, it got revealed on Manson’s blog that Warner did have a family and at least a daughter.
