Diddy Cassie lawsuit settlement Atlanta impact

Writer Andrew Walker

An Atlanta journalist and Agenda Studios are taking action after serious allegations were brought against media mogul P. Diddy.

ATLANTA — Consequences of the civil lawsuit filed against Sean "P. Diddy" Combs this past weekend are being seen in Atlanta.

On Monday Dawn Montgomery, a host on REVOLT's Monuments to Me podcast and Decatur resident, released a statement on X stating that she wouldn't be renewing her contract for the show's third season while Combs leads the company and REVOLT's leadership remains silent.

According to Apple Podcasts, Monuments to Me is a podcast focused on celebrating Black women.

"One thing I've done throughout my professional career(s) is be mindful of my work ethic and where I place my energy and time," the post said. "I also feel like REVOLT's leadership not speaking on this says a lot and even though this podcast has blessed me ... I'm done."

FYI: I won’t be signing on to do the 3rd season of @revolttv’s “Monuments To Me” podcast. I am a SA survivor & I cannot be a part of a show that’s supposed to uplift black women while @Diddy leads the company.
Believe Black women 🙏🏽

In addition to this, the DELEON day party that had been scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 19th was cancelled by Atlanta's Agenda Studios on Friday, Nov. 17th, the day after the disturbing accusations detailed inside the civil suit brought by Cassie Ventura became public. The suit was settled a day after its filing.

Agenda Studios put out a statement on Instagram Saturday saying "recent, serious allegations against DELEON Tequila owner, Sean 'Puff' Combs, have compelled us to take immediate action."

These developments followed shortly after Ventura, longtime ex-girlfriend of Combs, filed a 35-page civil lawsuit alleging over a decade of rape, sex trafficking, physical violence and other forms of abuse.

Ventura alleged that Combs brought her into his “ostentatious, fast-paced, and drug-fueled lifestyle” not long after she met him and signed to his label in 2005. She was 19 and he was 37.

According to the lawsuit filed by Ventura's attorney Douglas Wigdor, "over the years that Mr. Combs abused Ms. Ventura physically and sexually, she again and again tried to escape his tight hold over her life." Ventura also alleged Combs raped her in her own home after she tried to leave him back in 2018.

“After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships," Ventura said in a statement.

Ben Brafman, an attorney for Combs, did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment. On Thursday, he said in a statement that Combs “vehemently denies” the allegations. The attorney's statement on Thursday said Ventura had for the past six months persistently demanded $30 million while threatening to write a damaging book about her relationship with Combs. Brafman said the demands were rejected as “blatant blackmail.”

Wigdor responded Thursday in a statement saying Combs had offered her “eight figures to silence her” and prevent the lawsuit from being filed. Despite the competing accusations, the civil suit was settled quickly.

Wigdor released a statement confirming the settlement and saying both parties reached a deal "to their mutual satisfaction" Friday evening, but no terms of the agreement were disclosed and no further statements would be issued beyond those made by Ventura, Combs and Wigdor in the email distributed by the lawyer.

In her statement, Ventura said: “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support.”

Combs said: “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”
