Dinara Kulibaeva: Kazakh Billionaire

Dinara Kulibaeva, the second daughter of Kazakhstan’s president Nursultan Nazarbaev, has a net worth of $1.3 billion. She and her husband own shares in Halyk, Kazakhstan’s third-largest bank, which has been in operation since 1923. The bank has seen a rise in stock price of over 40% in the past year, making Dinara the fourth richest Kazakh person as of March 2013.

Halyk Bank boasts the largest branch network in Kazakhstan with 560 outlets throughout the country, as well as subsidiary-banks in Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Georgia. In addition to her work with the bank, Dinara is the Executive Director of her father’s education foundation, which provides aid to impoverished students.

She is a graduate of the Institute of Theater Arts in Moscow and is a mother of three children.
