There are three main football recruiting events: camps, combines and showcases. These all play an important role in the recruiting process, but each has its own advantages to keep in mind.
- Football camps focus on skills development and drills to take your game to the next level. Some have more of a recruiting focus with opportunities to play in front of college coaches.
- Football combines give you verified stats, numbers and measurements to provide coaches with a baseline to use when evaluating your highlight film or game footage.
- Football showcases are often invite-only events which help you gain national exposure and receive rankings and star-ratings on recruiting websites. These are typically reserved for the best high school football players.
Every high school football player can find value in attending a camp, combine or showcase but you should be strategic in the ones you choose. The two most important questions to answer are: Why are you going and what is your desired outcome?

Insider tip: The cost of attending multiple football events can add up. Before camp season begins, consider building a budget to help choose the number of camps, showcases and combines you can (or should!) realistically attend.
