How Much Has Justin Timberlake Made? What Is His Family Life Like?

Writer William Burgess

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are notoriously protective of their children’s privacy on social media.

The actress posted a rare photo of the couple with their sons Silas, 6, and Phineas, 1.

She captioned the sweet photo with “Thankful for my guys… Merry Christmas everybody!!”

The high-profile couple is open about their relationship in interviews and regularly makes public appearances together.

Timberlake and Biel often keep quiet about their children, even quietly announcing Phineas’ birth via a representative.

The former NSYNC member is no stranger to having his private life in the public eye, considering he and Britney Spears were the hottest couple in town until their sudden split in 2002.

In February, Timberlake publicly apologized to Spears after the release of a documentary about Spears’ conservatorship battle against her father.

He was heavily criticized for his comments about their sex life back in the early 2000s,  but it was not until the documentary that he finally apologized to his ex.

Fans of the pop idol were up in arms after the documentary highlighted a radio interview Timberlake did in 1999, where he revealed he and Spears had had sex.

Many criticized this at the time, but the recent attention brought to the interview emphasized Timberlake’s jovial attitude towards his relationship.

Timberlake also apologized to singer Janet Jackson after groping her amidst a wardrobe malfunction during their performance at the 2004 Superbowl Half-Time Show.

What Is Justin Timberlake’s Net Worth?

It is estimated that the singer-turned-actor has an overall net worth of $250 million as of December 2021.

He first made a name for himself as a child star, joining the All-New Mickey Mouse Club in 1993. He made his screen debut alongside former flame Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, Christina Aguilera, and JC Chasez.

Two years later, he and Chasez teamed up to form part of what was to become one of the biggest pop groups in the world, NSYNC.

Success With NSYNC

Timberlake and Chasez were quickly joined by Lance Bass and Joey Fatone to form NSYNC in 1996, with the former Micky Mouse Club castmates as lead singers.

Their self-titled debut album launched them to stardom in the United States in 1998, selling 11 million copies. Their second album, No Strings Attached, sold 2.4 million within the first week of release, making them one of the country’s biggest boy bands of all time.

The group’s third album, Celebrity, achieved cult status when it sold 50 million CDs worldwide.

Timberlake’s Solo Career

Towards the early 2000s, NSYNC began to lose the momentum it had cultivated for over a decade. With rifts in the band, it made sense for Timberlake to embark on a solo career.

His first solo album, Justified, was released in 2002.

Becoming an instant success, the album sold over 7 million copies within the first week and was quickly launched to the second spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

It was reported that the album’s sales brought Timberlake $10 million.

2002 proved to be a banner year for Justin Timberlake’s net worth, as he signed the $6 million ‘I’m Loving It’ deal with fast-food giant McDonalds that year.

He earned another $45 million from his Justified tour, entering the new year with a hefty bank account and an insane amount of global recognition.

Timberlake’s second album, FutureSex/LoveSounds was released in 2006. Besides reaching number one on the Billboard chart, he earned a further $15 million from album sales alone, and another $41.6 million from the subsequent tour.

Three years later, he made $20 million from net sales of his solo albums and another $20 million from tours.

He went on to release The 20/20 Experience, selling three million copies and obtaining $69.75 million solely through profits.

Alongside his music career, Timberlake has been active in Hollywood. His most recognizable roles are in hit films such as The Social Network, Friends with Benefits, and Trolls.

Apple TV+ recently released the film Palmer, in which Timberlake plays a former felon who becomes the legal guardian of a young boy.

Timberlake earned positive reviews for his performance, with many critics praising his newly-minted dramatic chops.

Justin Timberlake Real Estate

In 2010, Timberlake and Biel purchased a $6.6 million 2,600 square foot penthouse in New York City’s Soho. The property was listed for $8 million in 2018 and was sold in January 2019.

In 2017 the couple spent $20.2 million on a duplex penthouse in Tribeca. Originally listed for $27.5 million, the building charges $15,000 in monthly condo fees.

Timberlake owns a mansion in the Hollywood Hills he purchased for $8.3 million in 2002, just after his breakup with Spears.

He bought an underdeveloped neighborhood to build a 10-acre property, which he and Biel sold for $35 million in October of this year.

Timberlake owns an additional 130-acre plot of undeveloped land near Nashville that was sold for $4 million in 2015.

His Marriage to Jessica Biel

Timberlake and Biel began dating in 2007. They were engaged in 2011 and married in October 2012 at the Borgo Egnazia resort in Fasano, Italy.

Their elder son, Silas Randall Timberlake was born in April 2015, and their son Phineas was born in 2020.

The couple is notoriously quiet about their children, rarely discussing their family life in interviews or posting about it on social media.

In a recent appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the only reference Biel made to quietly welcoming her second child was:

“I had, like, a secret COVID baby. It wasn’t like it was supposed to be a secret. It was just COVID happened, and then I went to Montana with my family and never left.”

In an interview with People, the actress opened up about how she and Timberlake had been handling the Covid pandemic.

She emphasized the importance of teamwork in the parenting process, saying:

“It was very much: Be flexible, go with the flow, but you have to divide and conquer, otherwise I think one person probably gets too burned out. And we just have to be there for each other.”
