Jonnie Irwin is the father of three children: his first son, Rex, is three years old, and his twin sons, Rafa and Cormac, are two years old. The siblings have an age difference of one year.

His children are currently unaware of his illness, and he wants to live and create memories with them. During his interview with Hello magazine, he mentioned that he feels sad knowing that his sons will grow up not knowing their father.

He also mentioned that he took out life insurance when the twins were born, and he felt that the insurance helped him to be at ease knowing that when he is gone, his wife and children will have a house that is fully paid for and some money in the bank for them to live off.
