Instagram Influencer Jessy Taylor Controversy Regarding Account Removal

Writer Sophia Edwards

If you are a passionate Instagram user, then you must know the newest Instagram drama created by familiar social media influencer Jessy Taylor.

If you have not been stalking the Jessy Taylor saga because of having more important work in your life, then here are we to let you what happened.

let’s know about her: Jessy Taylor is a social media personality who recently had her Instagram account removed following a number of reports done by other Instagram users. These reports originated from some remarks that she gave in a recent Livestream wherein she termed another woman a “hood rat” and followed that up by stating, “I am a racist. I am a racist.” Although she has since justified openly that she did not intend what she said and that she just said those things to grab some attention, she is still fronting huge reaction.

Unquestionably her remarks were extremely offensive; that’s not really what this article is about today. Rather, it is about what happened after her account was erased.

Jessy Taylor Video That Went Viral

On the 4th of April, Jessy posted a video named “Stop Reporting My Instagram Account,” in which she cries and confesses about her absence of marketable experiences and how unaware she is of a traditional 9–5. The video instantly generated a huge crowd of people making fun of the influencer for her drama. However, there is a point that many other opinion writers are not including, that is the reaction of Jessy, which seems a little out of touch and over the top.

Earlier to her account’s deletion, the social media personality was followed by over 110 thousand Instagram users. Jessy began her online work as a live streamer but seemed to earn her money through the deals of sponsorship and subscriptions to her only followers’ page.

That is why, for Jessy, losing her Instagram account is like compromising with her job. Overnight, she witnessed her main source of income entirely cease, and while most of us do not go upload a three-minute video of ourselves weeping into the camera when we feel a setback, I believe most people would realize why that would be upsetting.

But here is another aspect to ponder over.

With online “influencing” growing as a popular way to earn money online, more people depend on social media for their resources of making money, which, as the experience of Jessy shows, can be pretty unsustainable.

We noticed a related thing occur on a more extensive scale with YouTube’s apocalypse, in which sponsors boycotted the platform and commanded that their advertisements be removed from content that was not supposed “family-friendly.” As a consequence, many YouTubers witnessed their videos become demonetized, and their only source of revenue entirely dry up.

While most of us do not rely only on social media to make a living hood, personal branding through social is a popular method for bloggers, business people, and business partners to create a following and market to their viewers. So, in these unsettled times, how do you protect your online name or brand?

How to Protect Your Online Brand

If you only depend on one particular social platform for name building, advertising, customer relationships, and so on — you are working at risk.

Now, if you can say this, “Yeah, but my account would never be taken down because I follow all the rules.”

It does not matter.

Besides the chance of having your account deleted, there are so many other things that are out of your power. For example, what if the platform makes unfavorable policies for these kinds of businesses? What if its popularity started declining? What if it shuts down forever? Has your mind started thinking after these questions?

Recently, Facebook and Instagram experienced outages that moved some users incapable of reaching the platforms. While the longest outage continued only a day, there were still many people who took to Twitter to protest that they were helpless to do their job without these social networks.

That is why, whether you are a business owner, entrepreneur, or influencer, you require to broaden your social media marketing mix. Make sure that you are collecting contacts via email lists, regulating traffic to your website and other social media accounts, and creating up your content over other social platforms. After all, there is always the chance that you may wake up one day and miss your complete follower base. Then what? How will you connect with your followers to advertise a new product launch? How will you recover lost sponsorship deals? How will you link to your clients?

While it is comfortable to mock somebody like Jessy Taylor, her encounter shows us all an important lesson about placing all your eggs in one basket is nothing but stupidity. Whenever you depend on a platform like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or Instagram, you are accepting someone else’s policies, technology, and vision. While it may appear stable today, but you never know when things may change and start affecting your life.
