Jerod Mayo is a former American football player who played as a linebacker for the New England Patriots throughout his career. He was born in Hampton, Virginia in 1986 and was a standout player at Hampton Kecoughtan High School. Mayo played college football at the University of Tennessee where he received numerous accolades, including being named First-team All-SEC in 2007.

Mayo was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2008 and quickly made an impact. He was named AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first season and was the NFL Combined Tackles Leader in 2010.
