Jimmy Fallon Death: #RIPJimmyFallon Trends On Twitter For All The Wrong Reasons
Matthew Cannon
On November 14, after a message from The Tonight Show went viral on Twitter, a number of online users posted about Jimmy Fallon’s death.
However, it was just a rumor. Jimmy Fallon is alive as of 2022 and is in the best of his health.
Fallon occurred to be another well-known person who was the victim of a celebrity death hoax, which has become a widespread occurrence on the internet.
The death fake caused the fans to go crazy, as usual.
Numerous admirers posted condolences on the Facebook page as soon as they learned of the talented 48-year-old actor, comedian, singer, musician, and television host’s death.
However, it didn’t take long for fans to realize that the hashtag #RIPJimmyFallon was far from accurate, as Jimmy himself responded to it on Twitter.
However, the trend has given rise to ligma jokes on Twitter. Let’s find out more about it.
Rumors About Jimmy Fallon’s Death Circulated On Internet
After reading a tweet that said, ‘It is with heavy hearts that we announce the demise of late-night legend, husband, and father of two, Jimmy Fallon. 1923-2022.‘
The article also featured an old photo of Fallon and his dog.
People were duped by the post since the photo gave the impression that the announcement came from the Tonight Show’s legitimate account.
On Tuesday, after seeing a message claiming that their favorite television personality had passed away, worried fans flocked to Twitter to inquire about him.
Other tweets claim Jimmy died of ligma, but these are just dumb Internet jokes that spread when death hoaxes of this kind get popular.
When the hashtag #RIPJimmyFallon became popular, trolls joined the discussion and started making ligma jokes.
One person wrote, ‘I’m crying right now; it still stings that I lost a close buddy to ligma last year. I’m sending prayers to Jimmy Fallon’s loved ones and friends. He is now in a better position.’
The Truth Behind The Rumor
The truth behind the rumor was soon revealed.
The birth year that was given in the message was the first indication that it was a hoax. Fallon was actually born in 1974, despite the post’s claim that he was born in 1923.
With a picture of Jimmy and the caption, ‘It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a late-night legend, husband, and father of two, Jimmy Fallon. 1923-2022,’ it was a photoshopped image shared from a fake The Tonight Show account.
He is 48 years old, but if one were to go by the post’s year, Fallon would actually be 99 years old.
A very skilled user of photoshop and editing was able to convince internet users that Fallon had passed away.
Jimmy Fallon Addressed Elon Musk For #RIPJimmyFallon
Jimmy appealed assistance from Elon Musk on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, to remove the trending hashtag that suggests he is deceased.
‘Elon, can you remove this #RIPJimmyFallon ?’ the TV presenter tweeted from his account. The Tesla CEO has yet to respond as of this writing.
