Who is John Overdeck?

John Overdeck is an American hedge fund manager with a net worth of $5.5 billion. He is the co-founder and co-chairman of Two Sigma Investments, a New York City-based hedge fund that uses technology such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and distributed computer to execute its trading strategies. Two Sigma has over $40 billion in assets under management.

Overdeck graduated from Stanford University and was a silver medalist at the International Mathematics Olympiad. He previously worked as a Managing Director at D.E. Shaw & Co. and as the Vice President of Amazon.com before co-founding Two Sigma Investments in 2001 with David Siegel and Mark Pickard.

Aside from his work in finance, Overdeck is also a philanthropist and director of the Robin Hood Foundation. He also established the Overdeck Family Foundation, which donated $1 million in 2018 to fund research on education issues for the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
