The TV star's grandmother describes him as 'very outdoorsy', a fitting moniker for the athlete who is always ready to make a jump. Grandma came up with the idea of building a small rock wall and obstacle course for the young boy in the backyard.
In no time, the obstacles began to add up as the young gymnast kept on improving his skills. In August 2022, he shared a video on his Instagram captioned "What a difference 10 years can make."
The video was a compilation of how he used to train as a child in his backyard to the present day where he is making history in a reality game show.
He was homeschooled. He trains up to 3 times a week for about 2 or 3 hours. The Salmon ladder and Flying bar are two of his favorite obstacles. He said in an interview that he likes anything if one takes a bar with him.
Furthermore, he pets five reptiles including 2 iguanas, 2 bearded dragons and a Chacoan white-headed tegu.

His dedication earned him a place at one of the most popular sports reality show at the young age of 13. He finally made it to the qualifying round of the Season 13 of ANW.
Josiah Grew Up With Four Kin
Josiah has three siblings which includes two brothers and a sister. He is the eldest among the four Pippel kin.
One of his little brothers is 14 years old and the other one is 11 years. Likewise, his sister is only 8 years old as of 2023.
When Josiah was 7, his younger bro went to a birthday party at a parkour facility in Cherry Hill. What he saw at the facility sparked the inner ninja in the young Josiah.
