Karli Acree's Women's Volleyball Recruiting Profile

Writer William Taylor

Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Karli Acree. I am a senior at Yorktown High School, and a 4-year varsity volleyball player. I have been playing volleyball competitively for Munciana Volleyball Club since I was 10 years old. I grew up around volleyball because I have two older sisters who both played. When I was little and asked if I could play with them, they made me stand in the middle of them with my arms spread out to the side. They would hit the ball back and forth over my head. I was supposed to be their net. And that is how my volleyball career started. Both of my sisters went on to play college volleyball. My oldest sister played for Indiana University East, and my other sister is currently a senior at Western Michigan.

Between Munciana and Yorktown, volleyball never stops. Munciana season is November-June. But for Yorktown, we actually start lifting and conditioning in January until our season starts. Then school season is from May-end October. Basically, I am in the gym almost every single day. I am a very versatile player. At some point, I have played every single position on the court. No matter what I am doing, academically or athletically, I am known to give 110%. Volleyball has taught me that hard work is one of the most important things in life. It has also taught me many valuable skills such as leadership, communication, responsibility, teamwork, and commitment. Volleyball has had a huge impact on my life, and I definitely would not be the same person without it.
