Keenan anderson’s full video depicted his death after struggling with police in venice, California on january 3rd.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released body camera footage of the incident, which shows the moments leading up to Anderson’s death.

In the video, Anderson is flagging down an LAPD officer on a motorcycle for help after being accused of being involved in a crash.

As the officer pulled up to the crash scene, Anderson apologized profusely and told the officer that someone was trying to kill him.

The officer asked Anderson to elaborate on his statement, but Anderson appeared to be confused and gave vague explanations.

In another body camera footage, Anderson begged the officer for water and later begged to be seen.

He then jogged over to the other side of the intersection, leading to a brief foot chase between Anderson and the officers.

When the officers caught up to Anderson, he struggled with multiple LAPD officers. During the struggle, one of the officers repeatedly threatened to use a Taser on Anderson if he didn’t stop resisting.

As the officers tried to turn Anderson over to have him lay on his stomach, he began screaming, “They’re trying to George Floyd me!”

As the struggle continued, the officer used a Taser on Anderson multiple times, including once for what appeared to be more than 10 seconds.

Anderson was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody. He was then taken to a hospital in Santa Monica, where he was later pronounced dead.

LAPD said in a statement that Anderson died after suffering cardiac arrest.

The release of this footage has sparked calls for justice for Anderson and for an investigation into the actions of the LAPD officers involved in the incident.

Who is Keenan Anderson?

The death of Keenan Anderson, a Black man who died after a struggle with police in Venice, California, has sparked calls for justice and an investigation into the actions of the LAPD officers involved in the incident.

Family members of Anderson revealed that he is the cousin of Patrisse Cullors, a co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement. Loved ones remembered Anderson as an English teacher and a dad to a 6-year-old child.

In response to Anderson’s death, Cullors wrote on social media that “Keenan deserves to be alive right now” and that his child deserves to be raised by his father.

She also called for action, writing, “Keenan[,] we will fight for you and all of our [loved] ones impacted by state violence.”

Black Lives Matter Los Angeles is also calling for the resignation of LAPD Chief Moore. The organization believes that the alleged murder of Anderson is an example of the ongoing state violence against Black people and that change is needed at the top level of the LAPD.
