Early Life and Education

Kimberleigh Marie Zolciak was born on May 19, 1978, in Pensacola, Florida, and spent her childhood in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. She was raised in a military family by her parents Joseph and Karen, and has one brother, Michael. Zolciak and her brother were raised in the Roman Catholic faith.

During her teenage years, Zolciak had an affair with a police officer who had interviewed her as a witness in a criminal investigation. The officer was fired but later only served a 45-day suspension without pay.

Zolciak attended East Catholic High School in Manchester, Connecticut, and later enrolled at the University of Connecticut, where she studied nursing. After graduating at the age of 21, she moved to Atlanta, where her parents had relocated.

Kim Zolciak’s Attempt at a Music Career

Kim Zolciak began working on a country music album in 2008, with the title of her spinoff show “Don’t Be Tardy” coming from her music aspirations. Her first single, “Tardy for the Party,” was a dance track written and produced by fellow housewife Kandi Burruss. Zolciak promoted the single through a small club tour and even performed at the 2010 White Circuit Party in Palm Springs, with the song briefly listed in the top ten dance charts of iTunes. Zolciak also recorded other singles such as “Google Me” and “Ring Didn’t Mean a Thing.”

In 2013, Burruss filed a lawsuit against Zolciak, alleging that she wrote “Tardy for the Party” for Zolciak and that Zolciak released and sold it without Burruss’s permission. Burruss sought a temporary restraining order to prevent future sales and profits earned from the song.
