Personal Statement
I have always had the goal to go to a four year college and continue to play baseball. I have a love for the game that is unconditional. I like to play baseball one throw and one swing at a time. I know in order to get the results I want, I need to simplify the game and go back to the fundamentals. During this journey I have learned many life lessons while playing the game I love. One of the most important obstacles I overcame was understanding I couldn’t be great everyday and I was going to have an off day once in a while. I soon came to realize it’s how I respond to my off day that matters most as well as preparing myself to not make the same mistake twice. I consider this one of my strengths in baseball. I am able to respond very well to failures and I am not afraid to have them.
I have developed an interest in Architectural Design and would like to pursue this as a career. I believe the skills I possess such as leadership and versatility will help me get ahead in this field as well as the game of life. There have been times where a coach needed me to play a different position such as first or third base and I never hesitated to take advantage of that. Being a three sport athlete I have had to manage my time wisely and stay focused in order to keep up with my grades. During this time, I have been able to continue to make good choices and be a role model and leader for others on and off the field. I have been known to “step up to the plate” and speak up for myself and others if necessary. Lastly, I consider myself to be extremely coachable. I encourage constructive criticism, understanding it will make me a better player. I am the first player on the field and the last one to leave. I look forward to being part of a collegiate team and pursuing my aspirations of playing at the next level.
