What Is Mark Davis’ Net Worth and Salary?

Mark Davis, owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, has a net worth of $2 billion. He inherited ownership of the NFL team from his father, Al Davis, and now serves as the principal owner and managing partner. Davis also owns the Las Vegas Aces WNBA team.

Davis and his mother Carol own 47% of the Raiders, but have full controlling interest due to a contractual stipulation that does not require them to own more than 50%. He oversees the day-to-day control of the team.

Since his father’s death in 2011, the Oakland Raiders – now the Las Vegas Raiders – have grown in value from $750 million to $6-7 billion.

Early Life and Career

Mark Davis was born on May 18, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from California State University, Chico, and was involved in developing Raider Image stores before inheriting the Raiders from his father. Davis also worked in the team’s equipment department and developed muff-style hand warmers to be used for football in 1986. In 1980, he represented Cliff Branch in contract negotiations and got him an annuity that lasted until his death.

Family and Personal Life

Clark’s father, Al Davis, kicked him out of his house, and after the Raiders moved to Los Angeles, Davis lived with Branch. Mark’s mother gave birth to him in Brooklyn, but the family later moved to Charleston, South Carolina.

Mark Davis’s Leadership and Business Ventures

As the managing general partner of the Oakland Raiders, Mark Davis oversees the team’s day-to-day operations and represents them at owners’ meetings. Seeking a new stadium for the team, Davis initially pursued a shared stadium in Carson, California with the San Diego Chargers, but ultimately moved forward with a deal in Las Vegas with Sheldon Adelson. In 2021, he purchased the WNBA team the Las Vegas Aces and hired Becky Hammon as the head coach, making her the league’s highest-paid coach.

Mark Davis’ Personal Life and Stances on Social Issues

Mark Davis is a self-proclaimed food connoisseur, enjoying restaurants like Joe’s Stone Crab, Dan Tana’s, and P.F. Chang’s. He drives a white 1997 Dodge Caravan SE with a bubble-top Mark III conversion kit and a VHS player mounted to the roof inside. Davis is a lifelong bachelor who gave up alcohol 15 years ago but joked about going back to drinking if the Raiders win the Super Bowl or if he gets married.

Davis spoke out about domestic violence in the NFL, suggesting that players accused or arrested should be suspended with pay during investigations. He initially preferred that players not protest during the National Anthem while wearing Raiders uniforms but changed his mind after Donald Trump’s comments. Davis urged players to protest with class and pride and emphasized the need to find solutions to societal issues. He declined to participate in an NFL owner resolution about protests, and in 2022, he said he would welcome Colin Kaepernick to the Raiders with open arms.

Mark Davis Builds $14 Million Mega-Mansion and Purchases $5.3 Million Condo

In August 2020, Mark Davis bought a 6.32-acre lot for $6 million in a private luxury community called Ascaya. He is building a 15,046 square foot mansion on the lot that mimics the angular lines of his team’s practice facility, headquarters, and Allegiant Stadium. The mansion will have five bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and is valued at $14 million. In March 2021, Mark also bought a two-bedroom condo in Summerlin, Nevada, for $5.3 million. The condo has 2,800 square feet of living space and a monthly HOA fee of over $35,000.

Mark sold the condo in January 2023 for $10 million, which was a $3.5 million discount from the $13.5 million he had been seeking at one point.
