Martua Sitorus: Co-founder and CEO of Wilmar International Limited

Martua Sitorus aka Thio Seng Hap is a Chinese Indonesian businessman with a net worth of $1.5 billion. He is the co-founder and CEO of Wilmar International Limited, the world’s biggest processor of palm oil and eighth-biggest sugar manufacturer.

Wilmar International Limited generates almost half of its revenue from cooking-oil sales in China through its Jin Long Yu, or Golden Dragon Fish, brand. Sitorus founded the Singapore-listed company in 1991 with Kuok Khoon Hong, the nephew of Malaysia’s richest man, Robert Kuok.

Together, Sitorus and Kuok Khoon Hong have worked on expanding Wilmar International Limited, creating a company with over 300 manufacturing plants and an extensive distribution network in China, India, Indonesia, the United States, and some 50 other countries.

In addition to Wilmar, Sitorus and Kuok Khoon Hong are also owners of the London skyscraper Aviva Tower.
