Miami’s Martin, Jovic suspended, Toronto’s Koloko fined following Heat-Raptors fight

A Saturday night fight between the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors has resulted in the suspensions of Miami’s Caleb Martin and Nikola Jovic, while Toronto’s Christian Koloko was fined $15,000 for his role in the altercation.
The scuffle involved over a dozen players and coaches and resulted in the ejections of Martin and Koloko. As the two battled for a rebound in the third quarter, Martin was attempting to box out Koloko when the Toronto rookie reached for the rebound and got tangled around Martin’s legs.

As Koloko fell on the baseline, Martin stood over him and then shoved him into the court-side photographers when Koloko attempted to stand up. Replay from the sideline cameras showed Martin grabbing beneath Koloko’s legs to take him down as the big man tried to get back up.

Every player and official on the court quickly ran toward Martin and Koloko, and members of the nearby Heat bench jumped in to pull players apart.
After officials reviewed the incident, both Martin and Koloko were assigned technicals and then ejected.
Following the game, Koloko told reporters that he was confused by the ejection.
“I was confused as you. I have no idea. He just stood up looking at me like crazy. I just stood up. I don’t know,” he said.
“He tackled me and we were on the ground and everybody came and I was looking around like, ‘What was going on? What’s going on here?’ I was just laughing.”
In a matchup last year between the teams, Martin had a hard foul on Raptors then-rookie Scottie Barnes when Martin fell into and then shoved Barnes on the baseline after a fast break.
The Heat defeated the Raptors 112-109 on Saturday.
