Since the news of his demise circulated on the internet, people wanted to know Michael Gerson’s cause of death.

Michael Gerson, a speechwriter for George W. Bush, passed on Thursday, November 17 2022 at the age of 58. 

He reportedly passed away at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington as a result of complications from his cancer treatment.

According to an obituary in the Washington Post, Michael Gerson, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush and a columnist for more than 20 years who discussed conservative politics and faith, passed away on Thursday.

Michael Gerson’s Obituary details have not been revealed yet. 

Peter Wehner, a longtime friend and former coworker of Michael Gerson, disclosed that he passed away as a result of complications from cancer in an interview with The Post.

In December 2004, he had a heart attack, and later in 2013, He was diagnosed with kidney cancer. 

In a piece for The Washington Post, he claimed that the malignant tumor in his right kidney was where it all began. 

He conducted a number of tests for a few weeks before receiving his diagnosis.

His wife, Dawn Soon Miller, his two sons, Michael and Nicholas, as well as his two brothers, survive him.

An author and devout Christian, Gerson joined the Bush campaign in 1999 and contributed to the creation of the former president’s speeches, which were heavily influenced by morality and religion.

Gerson, a moderate conservative, served as senior policy adviser and chief wordsmith for Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign. 

During Bush’s presidency, he worked as one of the president’s top advisers, holding the positions of deputy assistant, assistant for policy and strategic planning, and director of presidential speechwriting.

In 1999, the political writer began working for the Bush campaign. 

While working as a writer for Bush, Gerson shaped the former president’s rhetoric in the weeks following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Gerson is credited for coining terms like the axis of evil, the army of kindness, and the soft bigotry of low expectations.

Gerson left the Bush administration in 2006 to pursue other writing and policy projects.

In June 2006, Michael left the White House, and William McGurn, the chief editor of The Wall Street Journal, took his position. 

He claims that his address in the National Cathedral a few days after the September 11 attacks in 2001 was his favorite.

Later, in 2007, he became a member of the Post, where he contributed twice-weekly blogs on conservative politics and religion.

The Post claims that Gerson and Bush, who was likewise devout, had a close relationship. Bush expressed his heartbreak over Gerson’s death on Thursday in a statement.
