After seven consecutive victories, Curren$y’s local team, the New Orleans Pelicans, is now getting in on the fun in a very direct manner.

After Sunday’s overtime win against the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans rapper and MVP frontrunner Zion Williamson presented the seasoned poet with his game-worn jersey. Williamson scored a season-high 35 points.

Even though Chris Paul, another friend of Curren$y’s, scored the basket that forced the game into OT, the Western Conference-leading Pels ultimately triumphed, and Spitta says the team’s previous two victories have done wonders for the community.

Curren$y, who has long advocated for the Pels to do good in the community, expressed his gratitude by saying that the postgame present meant “the world” to him.

The last time discussion with Curren$y, he was predicting that the Pels’ playoff run, which was unfortunately ended by Chris Paul and the Suns, would raise ticket sales and, in turn, promote camaraderie across the city.

Just recently, Kyle Irving of The Sporting News warned that Williamson and the Pelicans were on the cusp of becoming legitimate Western Conference title candidates. With only a few strong declarations, they’ve officially entered the race.

Chris Paul, at only 22 years old, led New Orleans to the NBA Finals that year, and he finished second in MVP voting. Williamson, at 22 years old and in his third year on the court, has loudly invaded MVP talks and is the leader of the New Orleans Hornets for the first time in 15 years.

If Williamson keeps putting up outrageous statistics and the Pelicans keep talking about how they may be the greatest team in the NBA, then his argument will only strengthen.
