Paula Barbieri: Her Relationship with O.J. Simpson
Paula Barbieri is perhaps best known for her on-and-off relationship with O.J. Simpson around the time of Nicole Simpson’s death on June 12, 1994. The two had dated for two years prior to the tragedy, with O.J. reportedly drawn to Paula due to her resemblance to Julia Roberts. They met through O.J.’s friend Marcus Allen and became a couple after he offered to rub her shoulder with a balm for his injuries.
On the morning of Nicole’s murder, Paula and O.J. had a heated argument after he told her she couldn’t attend his daughter’s recital. Paula left and left a 15-minute angry voice message on his answering machine, breaking up with him and announcing she was going to Las Vegas to attend a Michael Bolton concert and possibly stay the night with him. Paula had met Michael a few months earlier when she starred in his music video for “Completely.”
After Nicole’s death, Paula and Simpson spent several days together at the home of his friend and lawyer Robert Kardashian, with Paula bringing his passport and cash. She later testified in his criminal and civil murder trials, claiming she was never abused by Simpson and never heard him speak ill of his ex-wife. Their relationship reportedly ended in 1995.

When asked about Simpson’s guilt in a 1997 interview with Larry King on CNN, Barbieri declined to make a definitive statement. She stated, “I’m choosing not to look further into making a decision one way or another, and I ask people’s forgiveness on that.” Barbieri has not commented on Simpson or the trial publicly in many years.
