Personal Statement
I began playing water polo in the spring of seventh grade. From day one, I fell in love with the sport and have developed strong ball handling skills, excellent endurance, speed, and a high water polo IQ. During the school year, I play for De La Salle High School and have been on the Varsity team since my sophomore year. I have strong leadership skills and I have been chosen unanimously as Team Captain for my senior year for both water polo and swim team. I was high scorer and MVP for De La Salle this year and chosen for the 1st Team All-League in the East Bay Athletic League. I not only push myself in every workout and practice, but also act as a role model for my peers and younger classmates by encouraging them and striving for perfection.
I consider myself to be a coachable and malleable player. I constantly strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits. I am hardworking and passionate about the sport.
My high school is known for strong academics and extracurricular programs that are challenging and prepare me for the rigorous programs of college. I push myself further by enrolling in both Honors and Advanced Placement classes. I study hard and maintain a 3.9 cumulative GPA. I am an Eagle Scout. I volunteer through Boy Scouts, my swim club, Habitat for Humanity, and as a member of the California Scholarship Federation.
I will attend a college where I am able to push myself in the classroom and in the pool. I hope to continue to be a role model to all my peers and to make my family proud.
