When asked about their relationship status and preference by the U.K.’s The Sun, they said, “I’ve never really kind of played by the rule book. I love people, and whoever I fall for, that’s who I fall for. I don’t know who that’s going to be. Now I don’t know what gender they will be, to be quite honest, and that’s a freeing thing — not to be limited to one category of person. I just fall in love with whoever I fall in love with.”
Sam Smith’s fans have always been curious about their love life. That’s because some of their most famous songs fall in the romantic niche. It wouldn’t be wrong to assume that the musician is as romantic as the music they compose.
Although Sam Smith has never spoken about their relationship status directly, they did have a pretty public relationship with ‘13 reasons why’ star Brandon Flynn.

Although Sam never confirmed their romance publicly, Jay got honest about their relationship during an interview with The Mirror.
After their fling with Jay, Sam was rumored to be dating the British actor Andy Newton Lee. The pair never confirmed the rumors of their fling publicly, and their relationship seemingly didn’t go any further.
In October 2017, Sam’s fans freaked out after photos of Sam and Brandon kissing in New York City first hit the web. A few days later, the musician confirmed their relationship with the actor during an interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show.

Smith started the song in red leather, surrounding a fleet of dancers that evoked Samara from “The Ring,” before cutting to Petras dancing in a cage, flanked by some dominatrices wearing satanic headgear.
Smith also donned a satanic top hat as huge flames heated up the stage. Smith and Petras won the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance.
