Early Life and Education

Stone Cold Steve Austin was born Steven James Anderson in Austin, Texas, on December 18, 1964. He later changed his name to Steven James Williams, taking his stepfather’s last name. His parents divorced when he was young, and he grew up with three brothers and a sister. After graduating from Edna High School, Austin attended Wharton County Junior College on a football scholarship, before receiving a full scholarship to the University of North Texas.

Steve Austin’s Wrestling Career

Steve Austin began his wrestling career in the Dallas Sportatorium and was trained by Chris Adams. He later learned about kayfabe and business from Tony Falk. He changed his name to Steve Austin to avoid confusion with another wrestler. He signed with World Champion Wrestling (WCW) in 1991 and became ‘Stunning Steve Austin’. He won the WCW World Television Championship and joined Paul E. Dangerously’s Dangerous Alliance. He later formed a tag team with Brian Pillman called The Hollywood Blonds and won the NWA and WCW World Tag Team Championship. Austin then joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in late 1995 as “Stone Cold Steve Austin”. He won the 1996 King of the Ring tournament and his catchphrase “Austin 3:16” became one of the most popular in wrestling history. He won four federation championships and retired from wrestling in March 2003, but continued to appear in non-wrestling roles.

Acting and Television Career

Steve Austin has appeared in various films including “The Longest Yard” (2005), “The Condemned” (2007), and “The Expendables” (2010). He has also hosted several successful reality television shows, such as “Redneck Island” on CMT from 2012 to 2016, and his own competition show “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge” on CMT from 2014 to 2017.

His first marriage was to Kathy Burrhus, which lasted from 1990 to 1992.

For many years, Austin and his fourth wife Kristin split their time between his ranch in Nevada (named the Broken Skull Ranch 2.0) and a home in Marina Del Rey, California. They actually own two side-by-side homes in Marina Del Rey.

The first property he bought around 2009. He bought the house next door in 2017 for $1.49 million in an off-market transaction. In April 2021 he sold the Marina Del Rey compound for $3.395 million.
