Allegany- Thomas Richard Moran, passed away Monday (December 18, 2023) after a tragic accident at home.
Born February 1, 2000 in Olean, he was the son of Thomas and Trisha (Peck) Moran.
Tommy was a vibrant and charismatic soul who was always the life of the party. He was able to make friends with everyone he met, he was impossible to dislike. He dove 100% into his endeavors and was never one to back down. Tommy was a hard worker and was transforming his home with Shana to build their forever home. Tommy had a confidence that was an inspiration to all who knew him. He lived his life full speed ahead. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel loved and protected. It is fitting that two of his favorite songs were “Drinks after Work” and “Free Bird”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tommy was a 3-sport varsity athlete; basketball, baseball, and football, which he excelled at. He played in the Big 30 All Star Teams, the coaches and fans could often be heard to say “give the ball to Tommy”. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter.
Tommy graduated from Alfred State College, Magna Cum Laude, with the Sigma Tau Epsilon certificate of Academic Distinction, and with an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance Electrician. He worked as a maintenance electrician for Lidestri Foods in Rochester from 2020 to 2022. He then moved back to Allegany, where he worked as an electrician for the City of Olean from 2022 to the present.
He was transforming his home with Shana to build their forever home when the tragic accident occurred on December 18, 2023.
Tommy is survived by his parents, Thomas and Trisha Moran; his sister, Madison L. Moran and her fiancé Aaron Pula; grandparents, Edward and Patricia Moran, Janet and Terry Shaw, Richard and Linda Peck; aunts and uncles, Gregory (Brenda) Moran, Teresa (Patrick) Hurley, Paul (Michelle) Shaw, Tammy (Travis) McGuire, Jen (Jason) Miller, and Jacquie Barber; his loving companion, Shana Bebko; cousins, Tyler (Kelsey) Barber, Evan (Jacob) Moran, Conner Moran, Mikayla Miller and Caden Miller; and his beloved dogs, Toby and Kona.
The family received friends at the Guenther Funeral Home on Friday, December 22, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany.
“It’s so hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.”
As one of his favorite songs says, Tommy truly lived “Free as a Bird” during his tragically short, but meaningful life. He will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, charisma, confidence, hard work ethic, and ability to make everyone feel special. Though gone too soon, Tommy made the most out of every day and lived life to the fullest. He touched countless lives and will live on in the cherished memories of all those who loved him.
