Veronica Edgar's Women's Volleyball Recruiting Profile

Writer Scarlett Howard

Personal Statement

My entire life I have always wanted to compete at everything I do at the highest level possible, so when I started to love volleyball, I knew I wanted to play in college. I am a very social and outgoing person, and love to be around other athletes who want to compete with and against me...I love to challenge myself and prove others wrong. Throughout my career in volleyball, I have been a "go-to" person for my team; someone who is reliable, consistent and cool headed under stressful situations. I have excellent problem solving skills, which are very helpful when my team and myself need a smart play for a side out. I  also am lucky enough to have played with a team where the goal was "we" and not "me" as well. This experience has given me an entirely new outlook on teamwork and team chemistry that I heard coaches talk about, but believe relatively few players and teams have truly experienced. Another experience that has made me love and appreciate volleyball more was when my high school team played the state champion team. One of our teammates went down her first game after her ACL healed, and we thought she had torn it again. Although we were down in the third game, we came absolutely roaring back and played for her, and ended up winning in the fifth game. That game made me really realize how much I want to keep playing volleyball- even in college. I feel lucky to have escaped any injuries. I have been playing volleyball since I was ten and invested hundreds of hours into it, and missed some pretty cool things for practice - like trips to Cedar Point even! But I have managed to keep a 3.85 GPA, have a social life, volunteer, and still love volleyball; which is why I would love to keep playing at the right college while I am continuing my education. I cant imagine volleyball not a part of my life!
