Who is Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen?
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen was born in London and caught an eye for interior whilst studying at art school. Laurence then went on to set up his own design consultancy and first appeared on television 25 years ago in a documentary series called Home Front. This launched his career and since then he has hosted a range of different interior shows including Changing Rooms, Fantasy Rooms, and Taste.
“I was a very exotic creature for the time. Back then, people on television were very straightforward and quite appropriate, and they didn’t really express themselves,” Laurence explained in an interview for The Guardian. “They didn’t get excited. The extraordinary thing is that somehow back then, expressing yourself and getting excited was perceived to be a trait of homosexuality.”

Though his job is to help others in finding the perfect home and designs, Laurence resides at his own country retreat in the Cotswolds, where he lives with his wife Jackie.
Laurence and Jackie spend a lot of time in the garden enjoying the sun and have been enjoying time in lockdown with his daughter Cecile and her husband Dan, his younger daughter Hermione and her fiancé Drew, and his three-year-old grandson Albie.
His tips, which we can expect to hear on the show, are to find a place that expresses your personality. He told Hello!, “Always try to express your personality and individuality. Your home should be a happy place that you feel comfortable in — so really make it your own.”
My Lottery Dream Home International will be released on HGTV premiering today, April 2nd. The first episode features a couple from Newcastle, England with opposing ideas of what they’re searching for.
