Personal Statement

My name is Zach Jones.  I am a high school senior graduating in 2017, and my goal and passion is to play football at the college level.  I attend a small, rural high school in Wortham, Texas, where I am ranked in the top of my class with a 3.7 GPA and play football, basketball, baseball, track, and tennis.  I also participate in as many other community and extra-curricular activities as time permits, including FFA, FCA, and One Act Play.  After school and in the summer and on weekends I hunt, fish, and work part-time for people in my community cutting wood, cutting and hauling hay, working cows, or helping with any project for my school, church, or community. 

All of these experiences and the strong influence of my family have helped me develop the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills necessary to succeed.  I look forward to applying all of this experience at the next level to become a successful collegiate student-athlete.

Although my primary positions for our Wortham varsity team are at quarterback and free safety, I have also played many other varsity defensive and offensive positions for the past four years.  Below are some of my key season and career stats, school records, and awards:

Rushing – 89 carries for 376 yards and 8 TDs

Defense – 35 Solo tackles, 22 assists, 2 interceptions
